Budget Division to State Agencies: Continue to Limit Spending
October 9th, 2018
On Friday, the state Division of Budget released its annual budget call letter to state agencies requesting agency budget requests for the state’s 2019-20 budget. The letter states that the Cuomo Administration will “continue the pattern of fiscal discipline by once again holding spending growth to two percent,” and requested that agency heads submit budget proposals that “assume zero growth from FY 2019 cash ceilings.”
We’re pleased that the Cuomo Administration is continuing its commitment to limiting state spending growth. New York State has a long history of spending beyond its taxpayers’ means and then relying on overly burdensome taxes that hurt businesses and the Upstate economy to meet its obligations. This sends a good message to taxpayers and businesses that may be looking to invest in New York.
