Unshackle Upstate, Others Call for Upstate-Focused Debate
October 30th, 2018
Last week’s debate between Cuomo and Molinaro, which was hosted by a New York City-area television station, focused largely on issues of importance to downstate residents. In fact, the only Upstate-related question during the entire one-hour program had to do with potential state subsidies for a potential new stadium for the Buffalo Bills.
We think that the candidates should hold another debate that focuses on issues of importance to Upstate residents. The public deserves to hear the candidates explain their views – and their plans, should they get elected – on the challenges facing the Upstate economy, including population declines, business climate and our infrastructure needs. Because ignoring the very real concerns of millions of Upstate taxpayers is completely unacceptable.
