The Climate Action Council’s Final Scoping Plan Comes With Major Risks and Many Questions
December 22nd, 2022
On Monday, December 19, New York State’s Climate Action Council (CAC) formally approved the New York State Climate Action Council Scoping Plan. The final vote count was 19-3 with the dissenting members explaining their objections.
We’ve also voiced our concerns about the flawed plan in recent months:

While there is a lot to digest in the CAC’s 445-page final scoping plan, it’s important to know what was not included in the plan.
The plan lacks a detailed cost impact analysis. It also fails to address a gap in energy generation that will be essential if the state moves forward with its plan to electrify everything. Lastly, it eliminates home heating options for millions of consumers.
Simply stated: The members of the CAC simply aren’t concerned about affordability, reliability or choice. That’s simply wrong and reckless.
Moving forward, we strongly urge elected officials and decision makes to prioritize affordability, reliability and choice for New York’s energy consumers. Failure to do so will put the lives and livelihoods of New Yorkers at risk.
