Unshackle Upstate Supports Additional Hearings on Farm Labor Bill

“Before legislators advance any new bill relating to farm labor, we urge them to commit to additional hearings to get feedback from New York’s diverse agriculture industry. There are more than 35,000 farms across every region of New York State. Farmers and farm workers in Western New York, Southern Tier, North Country and Capital Region areas deserve an opportunity to voice their legitimate concerns about this devastating bill. We respectfully request Senator Metzger and Senator Ramos heed the call of their colleagues and invite New York’s agricultural community to have their voices heard.  

New York State’s agricultural community supports approximately 197,745 jobs and provides families with healthy, high-quality products. Between New York’s challenging environmental climate and harsh business climate, our farmers already face extraordinary challenges. Legislators should focus on ways to help family farms grow and succeed instead of imposing additional burdens on these important businesses.”
