Statement from Unshackle Upstate Regarding New York's 2019 Minimum Wage Report
December 4th, 2019
“The results of this Minimum Wage report run counter to the concerns we hear from business owners throughout Upstate New York. In our recent Business Climate Survey, Upstate employers listed minimum wage increases among their top concerns in the upcoming year. These hardworking New Yorkers know firsthand that burdensome employer mandates hurt their ability to hire more employees and invest in their business.
In reality, New York State remains a very challenging place to do business. The Tax Foundation recently ranked New York’s business tax climate as the second worst in the nation. If Albany really wants to put more money in the pockets of working New Yorkers, they should focusing on improving our overall business climate and reduce mandates that drive up the cost of living.”
