Upstate United Slams Passage of Burdensome Employer Mandate
April 20th, 2021
The following statement is attributable to Justin Wilcox, executive director of Upstate United
“The passage of this so-called Hero Act is a knockout punch for Upstate’s small business community. This costly mandate will ultimately lead to frivolous lawsuits, business closures and job losses at the worst possible time. While the goal of the bill is laudable, many responsible employers already follow federal safety guidelines and go to great lengths to protect their workers and customers. Rather than helping these struggling employers – many of whom have not fully reopened – Albany has added to their burden. We’ll never be able to rebuild our economy and revive our communities until Albany rejects anti-growth proposals.”
