Upstate United Slams Disastrous Decision by New York’s Farm Labor Wage Board
January 29th, 2022
Statement from Justin Wilcox, executive director for Upstate United
“By a 2-1 decision, the Farm Labor Wage Board has advanced a plan to annihilate thousands of family farms. This is another glaring example of a bad idea that started in Downstate and will hurt hardworking Upstate New Yorkers and the surrounding communities.
This so-called ‘compromise’ will only compromise the viability of New York’s farms and the livelihoods of farmers and farm workers.
Governor Hochul has pledged to make New York the most business-friendly state in the nation. Like so much of the testimony and research offered to the Farm Labor Wage Board, they’ve clearly chosen to ignore this important statement.
We will continue to work with our allies in the agricultural community to right this wrong. This fight is not over.”
