Statement from Upstate United Regarding Proposed Legislative Maps

The following statement is attributable to Justin Wilcox, executive director of Upstate United

“These proposed legislative maps reflect the decline of Upstate communities which has been driven by Albany’s bad decisions. While the downstate region has shown the ability to weather the state’s high taxes and harsh business climate, that has not been the case across the Upstate region. Too many overburdened Upstate taxpayers have been forced to flee New York in search of opportunity and affordability elsewhere.

Moving forward, every elected official from Upstate must vow to work together to reject policies that will drive up the cost of living and drive out more Upstate families. Regardless of the lines on political maps, the voices of Upstate New Yorkers deserve to be heard.”
