STATEMENT FROM UPSTATE UNITED FOLLOWING THE RELEASE OF THE SENATE AND ASSEMBLY ONE HOUSE BUDGETS

The following statement can be attributed to Upstate United Executive Director Justin Wilcox.  

“We appreciate both the Senate and Assembly’s commitment to providing unemployment insurance relief to business owners across New York State – 98% of which are small and many family-owned. Relieving employers of the burden of UI debt, along with the assessments that go along with it, is necessary to strengthen our economy, especially Upstate.  While this is a positive first step, and it is encouraging that both houses of the legislature are putting forward language to address UI debt, there is still much more work to do until we have a meaningful solution in the final budget.  We look forward to working together to ensure employers no longer shoulder the state’s UI debt.”
