Unshackle Upstate Responds to Governor Cuomo’s Budget Presentation
January 16th, 2018
“The budget proposal advanced by Governor Cuomo sends exactly the wrong message to Upstate taxpayers and employers.
Rather than putting forth sensible spending reductions and real tax relief, the Executive Budget proposal seeks to expand state spending and increase taxes by $1 billion. This is irresponsible and ill advised.
This reckless tax-and-spend proposal will not protect taxpayers, but push them over the edge in search of more prosperous economic climates.
A million New Yorkers have fled to other states in the last decade due to New York’s massive spending habit and overwhelming tax burden. The State simply can’t afford for this trend to continue.
Governor Cuomo once stated, ‘New York has no future as the tax capital of the nation.’ Those words are as true today as they were then. We need our leaders in Albany to develop a responsible budget that rejects tax increases and reins in spending. It’s not an easy task but it’s vital to the future of our State.”
