STATEMENT FROM UPSTATE UNITED IN RESPONSE TO THE SENATE’S CLIMATE CHANGE SUPERFUND PROPOSAL

The following statement can be attributed to Upstate United Executive Director Justin Wilcox.  

“The Senate’s proposal to create a Climate Change Superfund is not only reprehensible and irresponsible, it is outright dangerous. How can legislators make the conscious decision to penalize companies for supplying necessary heat and energy to families across Upstate New York? On the heels of historic and deadly storms, our elected officials should be working to strengthen the reliability of our energy resources, not drain them of resources that could be used to improve services. The unintended consequences of the Climate Change Superfund will be vast and severe, and we are urging legislators to reconsider this proposal.”
