Statement From Upstate United Regarding Governor Hochul’s 2024 State of the State Address

January 9th, 2024

The following statement can be attributed to Justin Wilcox, executive director of Upstate United

“Today, Governor Hochul delivered her 2024 State of the State address which highlighted several of the 204 initiatives that serve as the framework for New York’s priorities in the year ahead. While the governor touched on some issues that New Yorkers can relate to and care about, she failed to put forward meaningful tax relief or pro-growth reforms that would reverse our state’s decline of more than 600,000 residents over the past three years. Affordability in New York goes well beyond housing. The state’s policies are making it more expensive to drive a car, turn on a light, and heat our homes.

“Now more than ever New York families and employers deserve relief. The governor’s 2024 address left us wanting more in the way of real action that supports the fundamental needs of our state and those who continue to call it home.”
