“News that the Working Families Party is asking candidates to stop defending taxpayers is outrageous and shameful – even by Albany standards.
Actual working families in every region of this state are struggling due in large part to high taxes. Last year, the Legislature took action to assist New York families by passing a permanent property tax cap. But having lost more than a million residents over the last decade, leaders in Albany must do more to help struggling taxpayers.
Supporting the very people who pay the bills in this state shouldn’t be a partisan issue. If a candidate or elected official can’t commit to doing so, they have no business representing taxpayers in the first place.
As the leading voice for Upstate taxpayers, we will continue to fight against higher taxes, senseless regulations and burdensome mandates that hurt millions of working families. We encourage every elected official, regardless of party affiliation or geographic location, to join us.”
