UPSTATE UNITED RESPONDS TO 2024 ENACTED BUDGET

April 22nd, 2024

The following statement can be attributed to Justin Wilcox, executive director of Upstate United

“While the 2024 enacted budget reached a record high of $237 billion and was passed several days after the April 1 deadline, the reality is that the final result could have been much worse for New Yorkers.

“We were pleased to see some progress made on behalf of local businesses and business owners through measures to combat retail theft and sunset COVID-19 sick leave pay. This year’s budget also rightfully rejected the HEAT Act, a corporate franchise tax, and proposed increases to personal income tax.

“As we look ahead to the final days of this year’s legislative session we will continue to advocate for measures that make the Empire State more affordable for Upstate families and businesses.”
