Upstate United: Tariff Chaos Results in Uncertainty

The following statement can be attributed to Justin Wilcox, Executive Director of Upstate United

“Tariffs are not only a tax on everyday New Yorkers, but they are also being imposed in a chaotic and costly manner. We have long been critics of volatile and unpredictable policy environments and the costs that can arise from poorly thought-out policies. 

“Ill-defined, sporadic rules and regulations and their arbitrary implementation can seriously negatively affect businesses. Business owners, like most people, like certainty, and while we may not get it, investments and people will flow to regulatory environments, which reduce uncertainty and decrease the relative risk of investment and relocation.

“Costly policies implemented without a clear plan or price tag harm consumers and businesses alike, ultimately deterring growth and prosperity.”
